Car is an electrical nightmare!! Need some diagrams or something....help?

Hey all. Bought an 85 T/A....and the wiring is FUBAR! It's a nightmare! I can't make sense of it.....

I would LOVE to just go to Painless and buy a whole new wiring harness, but I don't have the money....so I just want to remove what doesn't need to be there....and make work everything that needs to work.

I'll probably add a lot of toggle switches and maybe remote start, as the key area on the column is thrashed as well.

Please understand I WILL buy new parts and fix this the right way....but I just need to fix it ASAP, so I can drive it.

Can you please show me some wiring diagrams or something for like, the ignition...lights...door locks/windows....

I want to have the car run on as few wires as possible. It's a huge bird's nest under the dash right now....with several jumped connectors and spliced wires. Horrible...

Found these on Autozone.com. Your wiring diagrams look to be almost exactly like mine for my camaro so you can also use this link: http://www.geocities.com/vtcamaro/Wire-Diagrams.html THIS IS I've added all power options to my camaro going with these diagrams. There will be a few differences as far as the camaro has the c288 junction block and I'm not sure if your bird does or not.

You will love your multi meter by the time your done getting everything straight. I understand that bunch of wires can look like a real hassle but its really not that bad if you just decide to separate the wires into sections (power windows, exterior light, etc). Just figure out why they were jumped and spliced and fix those problems and then repair the lines and you could save yourself some money and gain a better understanding of the electrical system. I have rewired several cars with just a haynes or a chiltons manual and in somecases just with a pad of paper and a multi meter.

Good luck and just walk away when it starts to **** you off and work on it when your ready.

If I do that....I'll want to walk away every time I look at it!

I'm trying to keep a cool head about it...but it's quite overwhelming and intimidating. If you can remember a time before you knew anything about wiring...you might know what I am talking about. I don't even know how to use my multimeter....

Gonna take some time...but with the help of this forum...I should be alright.
