Replaced MAF wont start!

I bought what must be a refurbished bosch MAF. Installed it as my manual suggested. Started it. Stepped on the gas and it sputtered real real bad and then killed. I tried starting it again and it just ran for like 2secs and died. It's like it just has no gas all of the sudden. I pulled the cord and drove it home after several unsuccessful starts. Put it the old MAF and now it drives like it did before. What is the deal. I had the MAF trouble code since i bought the car. Was it always running off the preprogrammed ECM and when i put the new maf in the timing is bad or what?

Re: Replaced MAF wont start!

So here's the update. I thought it might be possible the person before me replaced the ecm and changed out the burnoff. But i looked at the ecm and it still has the module attached and wired that i believe commonly denotes it as a 85 tpi. I also checked the numbers on each maf and they were the same. The car smokes badly with the new maf and barely runs. Idles horribly. I pulled the troubles codes and i got 33 and 34 which both seem to denote MAF. I took voltage readings from the connector when unplugged and running. I took them fast as the light was fading and i needed to return the maf soon. So it is possible i screwed up. I also didn't check ground continuity. The chart below shows the results. If you know where i can find what they should be let me know. I ohmed both MAFS out every wire and they seemed to be damn near the same. Never used a scope tho. Thanks,
