Fan switch wiring

Hello all. Just started digging out my car from the snow and thought I would take some pics of the prev owners wiring to be able to control the fan with a toggle switch. If anyone has any insight on what I need to do to get this back to stock please feel free to speak up! Thanks!

So in the first pic the blue ethernet cable is coming from a switch just laying in the car to and alligator clip, which is taped up where the clip connects to a black wire with a red tracer. The other side of the alligator clip has a red wire which, as you can see runs around the air box, in front of the upper rad support and to the positive terminal on the battery. The third picture also shows some other wires which have been cut and connected, one of which is a red wire running from the positive terminal to the yellow butt connector and then into another read wire which runs in the black connector seen in the lower RH corner of the third picture. The fifth picture is a close up of that connector where you can see one side of the connector has a red wire running into the harness, and the other end (which is just out of frame) is the red which runs to the butt connector and to the battery. Also in the fifth picture you will see where the orange wire going into that connector has been cut and connected to a green wire (shown in the last picture) which then runs to a ring and was just sitting beside the battery. And finally the fourth picture shows a connecter end which has a 20 amp fuse jammed in it and you can also see where I believe the connector should be plugged in. This is located on the LH side of the Engine bay by the battery. I have not had a chance to do any testing of wires as to when and which are hot, but am looking for any ideas. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance. Car is a 1990 GTA 305 5 Spd.

Second I would look at the sticky for ******* total fan control. A lot of great info there as well. You may want to find an unmolested fan harness. Is this dual or single fan?

Least who ever did your knows how to use butt crimps, who wired my car put both ends of the wire in one end of the crimp.

The PO probably installed boogered up wiring because he didn't know how to properly repair the original wiring/controls or under the mistaken idea that running it manually was 'cool'.

See what's left of the stock wiring and hit a JY for the pieces you need. Do you have a wiring diagram and know where the stock wires and relay should be?

It's dual fan. Yeah I might try that sticky. I showed these pictures to the shop foreman at the garage where I work and he said he thinks it looks a lot worse than what it actually is. We're a GM dealer but we didn't sell Pontiac until 1997 so we don't have the shop manuals for my car, so I may have to try Chilton or some other manual. For lots of it I think I may be able to just match up colors of the wires. And I know these engines run hot and everything but I'd rather it be as it was intended to be instead of a effin hackjob of an attempt at wiring. If all else fails then yeah I guess I'm faced with having to go to the J/Y. Gotta wait a bit longer because I woke up this morning and we got a bunch of snow so my car won't be coming out for a bit longer...effin bummer. Ahhhhhh, the joy of redn3ck wiring ....
To remove the extra wires with the switch, simply disconnect the red wire from the battery, remove the clip from the black/red wire and remove the switch. It's that easy.
Then follow the tech article that groundrat posted to troubleshoot the stock cooling fan wiring and fix it. The fan circuit is NOT complicated at all. Well, it is for redn3cks, that's for sure!
