No power... anywhere
Ok, so I'm kind of a newbie with working with car electronics and cars in general. I bought a '91 RS v6 Camaro back a few months ago as my project car because it's something I've always wanted to do and finally have a little money to do it. I don't exactly know how the car is wired up, but I can generally figure it out. I was replacing my starter yesterday, and for some reason got out from under the car and opened the door and noticed my overhead light wasn't working. If I turn the key, nothing at all happens. The fuel pump doesn't kick in, I can't turn the radio or HVAC on... I think you can get the picture. Earlier in the day, the overhead light and fuel pump were both working. Is it possible I drained my battery enough to have zero power anywhere?
Also... if anyone can guide me on how to reconnect the terminals on my starter. I would appreciate it. I was a fool to not pay attention... lesson learned.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: No power... anywhere
do you have any cables connected to the starter..?? you should have like 2 going to the big terminal and maybe 1 going to the small terminal. it wont drain the battery unless you had your door open or something for like 3 or 4 hours. if your strarter isnt hooked up nothing will work.

Re: No power... anywhere
I do not have anything connected to the starter, this would cause me to not have power anywhere? Just for my own information, what about the starter would make this be the case? I don't know enough and am trying to learn as I go... and I think this is a great place to do it. I thought I remembered the starter being hooked up like that, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks again for the help!
Re: No power... anywhere
FIRST AND THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BEFORE YOU STARTED DISCONNECTING THE STARTER. REMOVE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.
ALWAYS DO THIS FIRST WHEN WORKING WITH POWER IN THE CAR AND ESPECIALLY UNDER THE HOOD IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
next look at the cables you disconnected form your starter only one will have a small ring terminal on it the others have a large ring on them.
all wires with the large ring go to the large stud "batt terminal" and the small one goes to the "s" terminal of the starter. there may be 2 small terminals on your starter just look at them one will have a "s" and the other will have a "r"
s=start
r=run
you need to hook to the "s"
then once every thing is tight hook the batt back up and you should have power.
