HELP!!!! Installing new starter motor

My old starter motor on my 85 trans am died so i bought a new one. Currently, i have the old one loose, however i cant figure out how to slide it out with the exhaust right in the way...Is there any way to slide the old one out and the new one in w/o removing the exhaust? Thanks so much...

Re: HELP!!!! Installing new starter motor

Ugh, starters, a greasy and annoying mess. . . but possible, i did in on my 84 Z, your going to have to take the solenoid off the old starter motor and pull it out from underneath the car. With the solenoid off it should slide out with some wiggling and time, same process backwards to put the new one on.
