what does it mean....

ok quick question and no answer i could find in the search. When i turn my key to on to listen to music while im working the SES light is on and everything seems normal. the wierd part is is that when the SES turns OFF the fans kick on and stay on until the SES light turns back on. also the SES light flashes just while the key is on. I had the battery disconeected for a long time while doing the engine work. Is it in learn mode? also there is a sensor on the passenger side head towards the back right underneath my headers and it doesnt look like it works.... what is it anyway? please let me know its kind of frustrating me...

If that sensor is between the last two spark plugs on the passenger side, it's the overheat temp switch for the secondary fan. It wouldn't affect the ECM in any way.

Can you not turn the key counter-clockwise to turn on the radio only but not the ignition? That would help a lot if the computer and ignition stayed off while you're listening to music.

Ok thank you for telling me what that sensor is. And it's wierd I don't think my car has an aux position for listeningto just the radio. So I can't do that. Any other ideas what would trigger the fan?
