my hatch motor isnt working it is stuck in the up position

i went to get sumthing out while the battery was disconected (used the key) and because it was down it wouldnt re latch
my dad used a jump box through the cig lighter and got the motor to *** up so we could latch it
well now we cant get it to go back down, think maybe it was just a fuse but not sure wat fuse is for it also ne info about it is welcome
