Hatch Motor/Switch Question??

I have a 1992 Camaro RS. I just got my roll cage in and i put the interior back in yesterday. When i hooked up the motor to the hatch, it shut and opened fine. I then went to hook the switch between the seats back up. There are two wires (shown below: one is green/teal, and one is brown/purple), and i didnt know which one went into which slot. I tried one way, and it didnt work, so i tried it the other way and it still didnt work. after that i unhooked the switch again and havnt been able to get it to work or latch since. I check all of the fuses under the dash and only one lables "rear" was blown. I replaced that and it fixed the power locks and horn which didnt work, but the motor still wont. Any ideas as to why it wont work? Also, which wire goes into which slot on the switch? And is there any way to get it to latch down without using the electric to the motor? I am supposed to drive 3 hours tomorrow and i do not trust a bungie cord =p

It does not matter what wires you put where on the switch.

To make sure the problem is not a defective switch you can jump the wires together for a second.

One of the wires comes from the motor assembly relay coil, the other wire comes from ground.

Using a meter one wire should have 12 volts on it, the other will read to ground.

Make sure they’re both OK.

The motor must be in the up position, and the claw in the open position to latch the lid.

Happy Racing!

If People Drove Any Slower They’d Be Going Backwards

Fog lights are not driving lights. Keep em turned off slow pokes.

How bout those dorks too scared to drive without headlights on in the daytime!

Re: HATCH LATCH

Also the ground wire running from the 10mm screw attaching the hatch solenoid release to the latch must be present. The other end goes to the ground location below the pull-down unit.
