I'm looking at finally getting a new subox that sits flush with the rear hatch area, similar to the one seen here. My question is where would you guys put the amps? I hate it when the amps are mounted over the fuel tank, even in a amp rack. Leaning towards trying to have them hidden? Looking for suggestions! Thanks
i am about to add a small sub box in the bottom of the rear hatch and i saw someone install a small amp over the passenger side rear wheel well next to the spare tire, nice and hidden which is what i like. With the new Class D amps out there being small they will fit very nicely

That's what I did with mine. PDF for measurements to build a box are on here somewhere. Dave, if you can't find them, PM your email and I'll send it to you.
depending on the size of your amp you could also look at going under the passenger seat, running your wires under the carpeting. I'm just not sure in a camaro if you're going to get enough air flow or if your going to kick your amp into protect.
ah sorry, I forgot about this thread.
I'll try and take some pics of it this weekend. you won't be able to see much though since it's all behind the paneling. which is perfect
I was a little worried about that too. No issues going into protect mode so far, even on some of our hottest days. Been in for a few months. You PMd for the plans but I'll just quote the post I found it in. My 12s just barely cleared the bottom of the box, but there is enough spare material from a 4x8 sheet to make another top piece and baffles to raise the speakers a little bit.

what 12s did you go with? Its hard to find 10s or 12's with the output that I'm looking for in that mounting depth. I'm trying to hit around 30-35hz with my setup. Its challenging but i'm close!
Sorry it took so long, but here is a shot of the amps in the storage box thing. It's hard to get a good picture of it.
I have 2 amps in there. I fab'd up a bracket to hold each one. They've been in there a couple years and so far so good.
I have my amp, receiver, hd radio tuner, and a cap in the spare tire area--these are mounted on an aluminum bracket that I fabricated. there is also a 60A schottky diode and fuse block nearby. (The receiver faceplate is located on an overhead console.)
a mini-itx motherboard, shutdown controller, battery, and ups controller are located (currently out of the vehicle) on a bracket in the rear "glovebox" area.
Mudd I really envy your setup, I just put mine in between the two 12s. The only trick is getting an amp strong enough to power your subs while still being small enough to fit in between, I got the Rockford Fosgate R1200-1D. It's 1,200w but mine was actually rated at 1,300w, and still small enough to easily fit. Pictures were taken before I made the wires look all pretty.
If your not familiar with them , they pull out and connect to the very back of the hatch . So when you open the hatch it moves with the glass . That way when they look through the glass when the hatch is closed all they see is black and the speakers are out of site.
It's not a great photo but you can see it extended and hooked on.
If you don't want to use it you just unhook it an it will roll its self back up.

I have one 12" and a slave in a narrow, insulation-filled box, hits good, but I'm about quality... I built a box behind the seat to house the Sony 1200 and 600 watt amps, and I used a computer fan to help with cooling... next is a good cap... amp box not shown here. I cleaned up the wiring since this picture.
