Hey guys, i am new to this board and yes i did try searching but didnt find anything solid. The problem is this: 91 Z28, i just replaced the engine and when i tried to start it the horn beeps when the key is turned to the cranking position. i jumped the starter and it cranks fine so that rules out the starter. The car has a aftermarket shifter so i took it apart and tied the neutral safety wires together but still nothing. I have to wait till i have some help to see if the wire at the starter is getting any power when the key is turned. I dont know if the car has a aftermarket alarm or not i will be looking into it tomorrow....anybody else have this issue? could it be the ignition switch? VATS? is it possible i have a power wire in the wrong place that somehow is feeding the horn instead of the starter solonoid?

Do you have a wiring schematic for your year / model of car? If not, go to this web site:

Does the horn normally work? Does it start the car by any chance?
I'd suggest removing the horn relay from the convenience center and cranking again. If the horn sounds, I'd look at the engine room wiring, you might have a wiring problem.

sound slike an aftermarket alarm the horn wont sound with the vats just won't crank or no inj pulse
