Oil Pressure Sending Unit so my gauge works

I have a 1992 Firebird 3.1L and I put in a gauge cluster from a Trans Am, but I need to switch out my oil pressure sending unit. The one for the V8 is too big (at least it was when I went to the Zone to pick it up), do I need to get an adapter for this to fit, or is there another one I can use? My buddy did this with his Camaro, but I guess the Camaros have a more universal sending unit, as one from an IROC fit his 2.8L.

Re: Oil Pressure Sending Unit so my gauge works

either or your choice just as long as it is a GM sender, """"DO NOT USE ANY KIND OF SEALER AT ALL''''' if you want the guage to work sealer acts as an insulator

So thats the only thing I can do? Adapter?

Anyone know the thread size of the block and of the V8 oil sending unit?

No No No you can get a "GM" sending unit for your block and it will work fine IF YOU WANT OR YOU CAN USE AN ADAPTOR it is your choice

try one from an IROC GM sending units all work under the same theory

Re: Oil Pressure Sending Unit so my gauge works

Seeing as how the Camaro oil pressure sending unit has one spade connector and the Firebird has three prongs, its not a plug and play. I guess if I wanted to cut my harness up I could wire it, but thats not what I'm after. I want a FIREBIRD style connection on an oil pressure sending unit that will work with the V8 gauge and fit into my V6 block. Now if that means an adapter, great, I just need the thread sizes like I asked before and I can do that. If there is another oil pressure sending unit, maybe from a different year or anything along those lines, that would be good too.
