Gauge Light Help

hi everyone new here i'm sorry to bother you guys but i'm going crazy trying to fix my damn gauge lights. car is 1985 z28 and whenever i turn the headlight system on the interior lights behind the gauge's do not turn on. I alrady took the cluster out and ran a test light across the two main connectors with the headlights on and only got a few instancies of light but when i turned the headlights off the lights stayed on. Can anyone help me with my lights ?

try checking or replacing the dimmer switch

the only thing that makes me think its not the dimmer switch is that the headlights do come on when i pull the switch

Welcome to GTO. Check Tail Fuse by turning on park lights. Check INST. Fuse.

what fuse are the gauges backlights on i check the guage fuse and they work and the wiring diagrams i have from autozone dont show the gauges backlight system i'll check the park light though
