hatch switch

ok so my hatch switch was broken so i threw it away figuring if i needed the hatch open i could just jump the orange an brown wires that went into it, this doesnt work and neither does my key. i need to get it open so i can install new shocks tuesday. any ideas?

o ya my key doesnt work because the lock was changed, not electrical issues

thanks

Re: hatch switch

By any chance is your interior plastic still off in the back where the lock cylinder was changed? If so, it's easy ... just crawl back there and you can pop it with a flat screwdriver. If the plastic is still on, it's going to be tough to get to because of the two little phillips screws on top of the plastic on either side of the latch. You might be able to undo the plastic interior screws around the plastic panel and lift it up enough to get in there to pop it. But you run a risk of damaging your plastic. That's the only way I know. I'm sure there are others.

Re: hatch switch

Connect / Run a wire from you're fuse box (1 of the BAT Spade openings with constant power) to the Brown wire (that should be the wire running to the release solenoid). This should "pop" your hatch. If that doesn't work, then your switch was probably okay and your solenoid is probably bad. Hope this helps!!
