Question about Alpine CDA 9851 and Ipod

SO ive searched, here and google and cant seem to find a specific answer, maybe someone who has my unit or someone familiar with alpines can help me.

Im trying to hook up my ipod to my head unit, ive been putting it off for a while and i really like my headunit. I have an alpine cda 9851 which was one of the first decks to use alpines ai-net thingy. Im not familiar with any stereos whatsoever. Searching provides three results, the KCA-420i ipod interface adapter, which is expensive, and comes with a box like thing, then they just sell a cord called the same thing, but with no box. Could i just buy this cord? I dont really car about controlling the ipod from the head unit, or anything like that im just looking at the lowest cost, correct way to hook my ipod up to mu unit. Which does not have an aux port on the back.
