VATS explaination...

Just posted this in ECM Page but... I need help!

The Gov't around here is making "THEIR" aftermarket immobilizer manditory in vehicles that they feel are at a high risk for thefts...... My GTA is one of them!!!!! (Even though I have VATS)

Does someone know where there are Schematics / Diagrams..... or a reasonable arguement to make so that I can try to to refuse this thing!!!! I haven't had my car on the road for the last couple of years because of this...

Something official????? I'd have to make a real good arguement!!!!

Please help me....!!! Send me a PM!!!
I don't wanna put a Government Immobilizer in my car...... it doesn't need one!!!!! Besides the fact that one day it'll break and leave me on the side of the road...

Re: VATS explaination...

Well first i have to say that that is the most rediculouse thing ive ever heard. Furthermore wow thats a genious idea lets make everyone get the same standard issue govt anti theft system that thieves will learn to over come within a few months. Saved them the trouble of haveing to know a thing or two about all the different set ups out there now they can be focased on just the one and they know it will be on any car of value lol. I love politics and i have a strange suspicion someons lineing their pokets over this law but on to the original topic. I think the best argument for VATS is the fact that if its not there the car cannot run. And i dont mean like the typical old style anti-theft systems that can be bypassed by jumping a relay to the fuel pump or the sumping the soleniod on the starter its way more deeply rooted in the car itself. If your car dosnt see the right key resistance the fuel injectors will not fire and the starter will not crank and theres nothing you can do about that. Furthermore its not like jumping a relay with a paperclip its 30 or 50 hz signal that sinks a current from the ECM to tell it its ok to run. Good luck emulateing that with a paper clip. The thing that really puts vats above any aftermarket system is the fact of how integrated how deeply rooted into the system it is. I mean its programmed into the ECM thats like the most key component to running after the motor itself. Aftermarket set ups will dissable starters and fuel pumps with relays and stuff but thats not nearly as effective as the VATS set up. I dont have any hard documentation that would stand up but i know there are schematics on this site that explain how it works and i think if you just talk over there heads explaining the system you can convince them that this is a system worthy of being installed on a space shuttle lol. We call that baffled with bs in our line of work lol. Anyways if you could find the schematic ide be more than happy to explain it how it works and throw some big words your way to really baffle them with bs so bad they wont know what to say lol. Its nice being an engineer lol.
