Electonic "pop" swap for the hatch. Need help.

All my car had was the factory plug for the poper switch, wire harness, & the one wire in the rear for the solenoid. I added a good solenoid in the rear. I also had to add the small wire harness for the switch in the console. Did all that, but still nothing. So I found a bad relay by the switch. Got the new one in, but still nothing.

When I jumped the yellow wire that plugs in the switch to ground, it worked fine. Well for some reason it started killing battery's, & would not let the starter have any power. It was so bad, that even with a new battery, it turned the starter very slow. It clicked like the battery was about dead. When I took the ground off the yellow wire; starting problem solved. Kinda strange though since the yellow wire only had power when the switch was pushed. That was fun.

So now the poper will not work. This should have been a real easy install but hell no, not on my watch. Is their a missing fuse or what? Too much work with no result. Please help. I am not being lazy about the fuse thing. Just burnt out. Someone had to have done this before right.
