firebird to TA tail light swap
I'm about to embark on the tail light swap. I've read on how to rewire, seems simple enough. What I don't understand is... Do I need to keep the lamps from my old firebird lights to put in the TA housing? Or, do I take the t/a lamps and splice them into the existing wires on my firebird? My car is a 91 base firebird, the new lights are 86 GTA lights.
Re: firebird to TA tail light swap
well your firebird has a separate turn signal from the brake light and 2 smaller running light sockets. You can disconnect the bulb sockets and use the lights the way they are now without any rewiring if you don't mind the outside signal being the turn and the next 2 being the brake lights or make it the t/a way and have the outside be the running and have the combo turn/brake lights on the others. You just can't take the turn and connect it to the brake sockets cause then the signal won't flash when you apply the brake. here is the link to a site with directions on how to wire it that way http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=37

He beat me to posting that link.I read the thread title & already knew what I was gonna link you to. It was done on a buddys car when he put 85-90 GTA tail lights on his 91 Firebird & did the STS install.
