I have an 89 firebird formula 350 and I am needing some help finding a couple different wires. What I am doing is building a KITT replica and on the voice box there are 3 led below the voice box for normal, cruise and pursuit. What I am looking for is a cruise control wire for when you set the curise control, probably the wire that outputs after you set the cruise to keep the cruise on, so that the led will switch from the normal, which is always on, to the cruise led. The other wire is probably for the transmission kick down for when you stop on the gas the transmission kicks down to give you more power, so that the led will switch to the pursuit led. I also need to know if these are 12v outputs or a negative output on these wires because I need them to be a negative output. If they are a positive output that is fine i can put in some relays to get the negative output. If anyone can help me with these wires and where they are located I would greatly appreciate it.

 

For cruise on, you can use the grey wire on the brake pedal cruise switch.
It has 12V on it with cruise on.

For the pursuit light, I can't think of anything you could tap into. The transmission doesn't have any signals for kickdown. You could maybe rig up a device to turn your light on based on throttle position, if you wish. I just can't think of a good source for that light.
