I'm changing my fuel filter and want to depressurise the fuel system. According the instructions I have it says to remove the fuse to the fuel pump and run the car until it dies! I do not have a fuse marked fuelpump I have Inj1, Inj2 & ECM!! Any ideas??

 

I know exactly what your talking about. The fuel pump fuse is located by the battery on the upper rail....NOT on the fuse block under the dash. It has it's own little holder. Take it out, crank it over and your good to go......i would go ahead and loosen the gas cap too

 

Thanks Man! Got it done! Didn't wait for a reply. It's supposed to 100+ here in AZ today. I didn't remove the fuse, just cracked the lines and worked fast, lost about half a gallon of fuel. If that's your car in your signature it's badass! Wish mine was Black!

 

For the record (in case somebody finds this thread through a search hoping to find useful information), pulling the F/P & ECM fuse by the battery doesn't help relieve the fuel pressure. The fuel pump doesn't have power but neither does the ECM so the injectors do not get fired and do not relieve the pressure.

The best way is to disconnect the F/P relay AND the FPOP switch on the block (or the C313 connector above the differential) and start the engine and after it stalls, ground the injectors to dump the remaining fuel into the cylinders.

Got to disagree with ya Lou - pull every fuse in the car you want, and then all the relays, then take out the ECM altogether and flush the key down the toilet - the fuel pump will still have access to power, through the Oil Pressure Sending Unit. Only way to disconnect the f/p from power is to pull the wire from the tank location, or disconnect the battery.

But - every time I've ever changed my fuel filter, I just open the gas cap, and catch the very small amount of fuel that comes out of the line with a small dishpan - any left overs after that end up in my face, and soaked up in my t-shirt LOL!

 

I gotta agree with you, like I said in my post, you gotta disconnect the F/P relay AND the FPOP switch. You got no idea how many people forget about it.
