Brake lite insanity..Help please.
Hopefully some can help me out here. i pulled the bulbs from the brake lite sockets, put them back in. Now the left brake lite doesnt work. the lites work when i turn the headlites on, but when i hit the brake pedal, there is only a very faint rise in brightness from either lite. Heres the insane part.. when i put a bulb in the left side brake/tail socket and press the brake pedal , all my dash, and running lites go on, and the warning chime goes nuts. When i pull the bulb out, the right side works fine. All of the turn signals, flashers, and side markers are working fine. Is there a certain bulb i have to use? I went and bought a few from the gas station down the street, and they seem to be the same as what i have on the right side. Is there a hidden wire i could have pulled off by misstake? Any help would be apperciated.

Did this problem just begin with a simple bulb replacement? Sounds like you have battery being introduced to ground in the wiring harness thus the lighting of all lights. Been there myself and it may not be a simple find or solutioin and then again maybe it will be? If the wiring harness has not been altered, check your grounds and the wiring harnesses to the rear. That'll take some panel removal and a bit of work on your part to insure that the wires are not frayed and or you're not getting battery across an open or shiner in the harness leads to the brake lights. First though, have you made sure you have the right bulbs in the right slots? They are different..
Good luck!

You need the dual-filament bulb for the brake lights.
If you use a single-filament bulb, that's exactly what happens, the brakes will back-feed into the running light circuit (which also powers the gauge lights and causes the door chime to chime).
If you used the right bulb, I'd check the socket for any foreign objects, broken contacts etc.
Hope this helps.
