Birds nest of a wiring harness
I bought an 88 GTA with a carbed 350. Was a 5.0 tpi. I'm trying to hook up the water temp sensor and the oil pressure sending unit. But the harness is all hacked up. The C100 bulkhead connector. The dash wires are ran through there. There is to be oil pressure and water temp wires there that I've seen on schematics. Are they the ones that go to the sensors? Can I just run those wires to the sensors?
Re: Birds nest of a wiring harness
For future reference dont repost the same problem in 5 different threads
Stick to your own or post a new thread about a new problem
Now, the C100 has all your gauges except speedo and fuel. As explained in the other thread a new harness will probably be better than attempting to repair a severely mangled old harness. V6 will work since you're not using anything V6 about it and they will be the cheapest. For your speedo to work you either need the stock ECM inplace or to retrofit a buffer box from a TBI fbody or TBI truck. Being an older car it may already have the buffer box
To answer your question, yes you can run new wires to the sensors and have the gauges work BUT if your harness is beyond repair you will have a hell of a time figuring out the correct pins to connect to and you will be without the correct connectors to splice on there in the first place

Re: Birds nest of a wiring harness
Thanks I fixed it!!! Turns out my sensors were bad. And thanks to Pocket I was able to tap into my C100 connector and find my water temp wire.
