Voltage gauge in dash question/not working

My voltage gauge doesnt work. I swapped out the alternator when it was bad. Could using an 84 alternator for carb be affect to the gauge. I used an 83 amp alternator from a 84 carbed firebird because the the 85' trans am 105amp alternator bolt holes didnt line up. (I figured out years later that i could take apart the alternator and rotate the front and rear backing molds to make it bolt up the right way,) but until i do. is my theory right about how both alternator are wired differently. i checkd the wiring diagrams and they are way different. I answered my own question huh

ALTERNATIVE ANSWER

The type of alternator cannot disable the voltmeter.

Fog lights are not driving lights. They look dorky. Turn em off slow pokes.

How bout those dorks too scared to drive without headlights on in the daytime!
