I got something weird goin on....

Ahh.. yes. Electrical problems are starting to show their faces in my car. But... afterall it did sit for 4 years in a barn. LOL!
Okay, now the problem... Sometimes when I'm driving my right turn signal indicator will come on steady(no flashing). And when it is on, my turn signal will not work on the right side. The rear turnsignal bulb is not on, and the front bulb is(steadily). Sometimes the turnsignal works like normal. Now... It sounds like a loose wire to me. Or so I thought... If I turn the car off and turn the signal on (keys out of the car) it will blink on the dash. But instead of the bulbs outside lighting up the fuel pump primes off and on like the bulbs are susposed to.
Here is some history on the car. It sat in a barn and I found nuts everywhere. So something was definately living inside it. I've went through the whole outside headlight harness and it all looked good.
The headlight switch **** needs to be in just the right position for the gauge lights to work. So I know I need to change that.
I had to change the whole column out with another one. And until now I haven't had any problems. I tried to jiggle wires under the dash and haven't found any loose wires(yet).
Is there anything in the turnsignal system that could be linked with the fuel pump circuit? Everything else electrically works as it should.
As for this weekend I guess I'll not use my right turnsignal when it's acting up. But I need to find this problem. Anyone got any ideas on a starting point on what circuits I should check first? should I go from the switch out to the bulbs? Or from outside to the switch?

The turn signal indicators are tied to the front turn signal bulbs so if your indicator comes on, it is logical that the front signal is on. And the rear doesn't have to be.
It seems that the front turn signal wire (dark blue) might be rubbing with the fuel pump wire under the dash. They share the same bundle from the dash into the bulkhead connector (C100) that's left above the clutch pedal, not easy to access. I've seen some 1985 cars with wire insulation rubbed off, it was a pretty scary sight. Yours might be also eaten (squirrels aren't picky).

As for the turn signals flashing with the keys out (unless they are hazards), I'll wait what you find on the first problem and we'll take it from there.

Hope this helps.

Re: I got something weird goin on....

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try and trace it down this weekend. I drove it today and it didn't do it. But I know electrically problems... It'll show it's ugly face again.
I'm going to take the dash apart anyways. So I can find more nuts. And hopefully my wiring problem. I'm betting on a chewed on wire also. But at least I know where to start now. Thanks....
