New Power Cable (battery->Starter)
Hi!
Today I bought an 4 AWG (21mm) RED wire to change my positive (+) from battery to starter (main power)
My question is, is it just fine to remove the old one and replace it with this.
Or is there any "fusible link" built-in in these stock wires ?
I didnt see any large bulb (fuselink) or anything on the pos (+) wire from battery
I only checked the battery side of the cabel, will rise the car on wednesday.
But IF there are an "fuseible link" on the main power line, Can I replace it with an regular AGU (large fuse) instead ? Cause We cant buy fusiblelinks in sweden..
Or isnt it needed ? Just run a clean 4 AWG (+) wire from battery to starter ? and im good ?
I will also change the alternator cable and the main NEG (-) from battery to block/head just to have new large good cables and new connectors when I replace the battery..
So the question is mainly about "fusible link" if there is on or if I need one..

Re: New Power Cable (battery->Starter)
Hmm.. Hopefully my new 4 AWG would work.. I cant change it in the store now, they have cut it already to 1.5 meter and I cant buy another one casue they arent cheap at all..
I saw the poll, so I dont have to worrie about fusible links etc.
My friends (they have 2 1989 IROCs to) They have a large "bulb" on the (+) cable from battery, that must be fusible link, I dont have it and I have the stock cables to..
But there isnt a need for some fuse or fusible link on the main power then ?
Cause they want to change the powercables to but didnt want to touch it until we was sure no fuse/link was needed at the main power (+)
Thanks!

Re: New Power Cable (battery->Starter)
Ok I bought new cables today ($45)
For one red 2 AWG (1.5meter) for battery -> Starter
and one black 2 AWG (1meter) for battery -> block/head
Cable is DLS 2 AWG (OFC 99,99% Pure Copper, Heavy Isolated)
So the cable is hopefully a really good one
I also have brand new cable heat socks (HIGH temp protection)
So With these new cables, and protection, they will last forever I hope
I will change the wires tomorrow, some pictures will be taken and posted.
Ill let you know how it turns out...
