Surging or constant high idle?

Surging is a vacuum leak. Constant gets trickey

its a constant thing as soon as it fires over the rev starts climbing til its rapped out and hold til you kill it... I did check the TPS and it within the normal range as far as voltage at idle all the way up to WOT... with a steady voltage climb no spikes or dead spots.... also have to start it with starting fluid but fuel pump primes and injector fire...

Possibly the ECM has crapped out. Might wanna check that out. Had the same symptom happen to me. . .took starting fluid to start it, and would just SCREAM. max revs. If it runs long enough does it start to overheat??? Goes well over 220 degrees without the fan kicking on?

Yeah, your not gonna get any codes or SES light. I didn't either. 'Cause the ECM wasn't active to send them.

I checked the TPS with a multimeter meter and the actual throttle position is almost all the way closed...

You can use the factory fan bypass by turning the AC on

Re: help needed with 91 Z@*
Have you had the distributor out recently?

A dist 180* out is prone to intake backfires

Re: help needed with 91 Z@*
no man I havent had the dizzy out at all and it clears up when I plug the map sensor in its just revs so damn high... something else is today I was messin with it and cranked it over and it didnt start so I let off the ignition and motor continuted to crank any ideas... does power go to the starter first then to the ecm? cuz that would make sense to me to all my problems if I have a short before or at the starter...
