Third brake light

I have an 86 T/A witht the high mount third brake light, which at first I didn't like but, it has grown on me as something that makes it unique to that one model year. Trouble is, it doesn't work. I am getting 12 volts at the light and I have cleaned the grounds. It doesn't want to come on with the other lights. When I apply 12 volts from another wire (the courtesy light in the trunk) it lights right up. For some reason the third brake light is not pulling enough current. I don't know what the deal is. Any suggestions.

Also, I have done a search and seen that some people have eliminated theirs all together. If I can't find out what's wrong, this may be my next step. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Third brake light

Check out the switch(es) My 91 has two brake switches- one for the brake lights and one for the third and cruise control.
