How can I wire up an external electric fuel pump for my 3.1 V 6 ????? The fuel pump in the tank quit and don't want to drop the tank if I can get out of it.

Re: fuel pump

I don't think you can successfully pull through your stock pump. We just did a pump on my fiancee's car today. Took about 5 hours total. Not a bad job at all really.

Re: fuel pump

thanks for the reply but my son and I pulled the tank, replaced MAP sensor and TPS sensor and put in a new pump and the car still won't run right. can't accelerate and idles rough. About ready to burn it.

Re: fuel pump

did you check to see if there was any crap in the tank? You should also do the fuel filter, its cheap and easy to do. And what about the spark plugs, wires and injectors, check them out!

Re: fuel pump

A fuel pump is a frequently essential component on a car or other internal combustion engined device. Many engines do not require any fuel pump at all, requiring only gravity to feed fuel from the fuel tank. Without a fuel pump, your engine will quickly starve. A bad fuel pump will kill things quickly. You can easily replace and install an electric fuel pump.
