Problem with Ignition Switch
OK, I have this problem every year or less my Ignition Switch gets stuck and I can't move it, this usually happens when the car is running and I go to turn it off. Anyway to make a long story short this is like the 5th time are so and I have never heard of this happening to anyone else with a thirdgen. So has this ever happen to you? Should my Ignition Switch be breaking this much?
I currently out of town and can't get the guy on the phone that is going to fix it but my dad has been relaying messages to me. Apparently the Ignition Switch w/ VATS is going to cost more to fix then putting in a Ignition Switch without VATS. Does anyone understand this cause I know there is nothing wrong with the VATS plus he would have to reprogram the computer to disable vats? We had to tow it and we put it in neutral to get it on the bed meaning that we put in the key and the VATS unlocked the system. I don't really know what is stopping it from moving cause I haven't talk to the guy. If anyone got an idea or a comment that would be helpful, i just feel like this guy is trying to rip me off.

Locks Of Problems
Apparently you are having difficulty finding someone to fix it correctly or if the switch itself is breaking, it’s not being manufactured properly.
If your mechanic or locksmith can get a new key with a matching pellet all you need is a new lock cylinder.
However if he can’t get a matching pellet you need a new VATS so it can read the different pellet.

If People Drove Any Slower They’d Be Going Backwards
When you see fog lights on in good weather beware. Low performance driver ahead.
How bout those nitwits too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime, and the nitwits that need headlights for a little rain

Re: Locks Of Problems
A new lock cylinder should be about $50 - think that's what I paid a few years ago at Carquest. Rent a steering wheel puller from autozone or advance and do it yourself - takes maybe 2 hours max with simple hand tools and the steering wheel puller. New lock cylinder will come with a plastic dummy key for cutting a new one with - simply take the old key and the new dummy key to ACE Hardware and have them cut a key based on the shape of the new key, but with a blank that has the same pellet resistor as the old key. You don't have to bypass or reprogram anything.
ALWAYS better to just do it yourself - no reason to pay someone else to screw it up when you can do that all by yourself! And trust me - there's no one that "works" on cars for a living that ever does it right - they ALWAYS screw it up!

Re: Problem with Ignition Switch
Well it turned out to be somehow to shift interlock cable getting stuck and being pulled up or something
According to the guy it was impossible but it happened. Welcome to my car it does the impossible over and over again.
Anyway 50 bucks and the cars back running.
I am a DIY guy but being a college student and I'm still dependent on my parent and my dad is an old school car guy so the new electrical stuff scares him to be mess with by anyone other than a professional.
Can't wait to be independent
