Looking for some info.... I have an 87iroc and was wondering if factory option cruise can be added or is this waaayy too much of a headache and expense. I noticed that the speedo cable has a union just below the master cyl. and the throttle cable/trans kickdown cable bracket has the hole for the additonal cable and the throttle lever has the attaching point. Any guidance is appreciated.....
Its easy to add

87 shouldn't use the split in the speedometer cable... It should get it's VSS signal from the dash cluster. You should be able to get the parts from a donor car and most of it will connect directly to the car. For 87 most of the cruise should be self contained, in the later cars it really becomes an intergrated part of the dash harness. Try to find a donor car as close to the same year as possible, since the design and layout changed several times between 82 and 92.

You will also need a cruise Module/Harness, and the correct brake switch as well. ( installed under/behind the dash housing ) I'm pretty sure that 84-88 is a good range for donor parts.
