Help installing keyless locks with hatch release
Just installed Commando ke-30 keyless door locks to 84 z. The commando unit has a wire that will create a 1 second ground to open hatch/trunk when button is pushed on transmitter. I was thinking that the electric hatch button on center console was just a grounding switch and could wire right into that. But it has two wires going to it, one is 12v constant hot and I tried running a continuity test on the other terminal to ground on the car but could not get continuity so I assumed it was not a ground wire to activate hatch latch so I didn't bother to wire it. How can I remotely open my hatch? Install a relay? Is the latch actuator naturally grounded to the car, or does it have a ground wire that I can tap into? Am i correct in my thinking that the console switch sends 12v back to the latch actuator and not a ground? thanks.
Re: Help installing keyless locks with hatch release
The factory hatch release sends 12V+ to swing a relay which sends 12v+ to the release solenoid. The ground is the body of the solenoid itself.
You will need to wire in a second relay to convert the ground signal of your keyless entry from 12v- to 12v+.

Pin 87 off the relay would go to the brown wire off your hatch release switch.
