couple radio questions

first of all, does the 89 camaro have the wiring harness of the 88, or the 90? my 89 had the wiring harness for the radio missing, so I grafted on the input that matched a yellow letter radio that I already had, but now I'm wondering if I did the right thing

also, this radio I have emits a static out of one speaker, as long as the radio is on, no matter what the volume level of the radio. the only way to stop the static is to turn off the radio. i don't think it's the speaker because it worked fine with the old stereo, does that sound like a faulty radio to you?

Re: couple radio questions

89 model cars had the newer style plug, the colors are the same though so you did the right thing. As far as the static the speaker might have a bad connection or the radio is bad. It's probably the radio if it worked fine with the old stereo

Re: couple radio questions

This is from an inactive web site, but the info is still useful. Seems like 1989-1990 was a transition year for the factory connector.

Re: couple radio questions

thanks, mine has the second one on it. I almost wish I has put the earlier harness on it, it would make finding a working white letter radio so much easier
