want to rewire

i have a mess of wire under my 86 camaro dash and tape on other wires all over the car i would like to rewire with a painless wiring kit would like to know if any one has done this and how hard was it and could some one point me in the right direction on with harness would work best for me thanks

Same here. Just got mine a few weeks ago and the wiring in it looks like it was installed by a drunken monkey with a brain tumor.

Grab the dash/engine wiring from a donor car

It may be a good time to update to the later year wiring which was greatly simplified and well documented

Painless multi circuit kits are great for cars that never had modern wiring like old roadsters or classic cars updating from the glass fuses. Newer cars like 3rd gens are highly integrated so just slapping a kit on leads to more headaches than before

***sigh*** Once again, hope is the denial of reality. Oh well, if I didn't want to learn about automotive mechaanics I wouldn't have bought it in the shape it was in. lol

i know how you feel was hopeing i would not have to do this but guess not i dont with wiring harness i want or will work best with my car

Pre 85's are quite different, 85 is its own animal, 86-88 are similar - try to match carb with carb - EFI with EFI, 89 is specific, 90-92 interchange

Firebirds and camaros are specific with the dash harness. Interior options like power windows/locks etc are not part of the dash harness
