Re: VATS help

No wires are shown that are associated with VATS. Coming down the steering column is a small gauge yellow two wire set with a black small plug. That is the key resistor verification lead. To check whether your key is providing the proper signal disconnect that connector, place the key into the ingnition and measure resistance with a multimeter on each side of the two prong plug coming from the wheel. It should be very close to the resistance across the key itself. There are two bumps on each side of the key. Place the multimeter leads on each pump and measure resistance. It should be close to the same measurement from the wire lead. IF YOU HAVE A BIG DIFFERENCE THEN YOUR IGNITION CONTACT POINTS ARE BAD. The solution is to replace the ignition or buy a resistor plug in and attach it to the other end of the lead leaving the steering wheel . This will simulate the resistance that is not coming from the key.

Re: VATS help

Does the car crank over? Does the security light flash or come on? VATS also enables the starter, so if it cranks over, it probably isn't VATS. I would check the fuse and fusible link near the battery - I forget which, but one is ECM power, which in turn powers the injectors.
