Fuel pump relay..... Help

Well i've got an 88 z28 5.0 TBI and the other day I decided that I didn't like the tatered and worn wires coming from the fuel pump relay. So I went to the junk yard found the same setup on another car cut it off and brought it home. As I had the wires stripped and was fitting the new connector on, a couple of the wires touched together and arced I realized that I hadn't undone the battery cables. I then dropped what I was doing and unhooked the battery and finished the project. After everything was put back together I turned the key over and the fuel pump didn't turn on like normal. The car will turn over and everything works but the fuel pump. I checked the wires to fuel pump relay and none of them have power going to them. Any Ideas or suggestions???

Re: Fuel pump relay..... Help

did you check the fuse tucked in the fenderwell behind the battery? check all the other fuses - maybe fried the ECM fuse. maybe fried the relay and need to replace - they are about $9 at any parts store.

No I wasn't aware there was one there. I'll look around and see if I can find it.

Re: Fuel pump relay..... Help

The fuel pump/ECM's only battery fuse is located near the battery in its own little holder

I dont know what other pump fuse you checked, but it wasnt the correct one

If you suspect the relay, swap it with a fan relay and see if it clicks when engaged. If it clicks and the old one doesnt, then the old relay is dead. No click means its not getting power
