Speedo not working

i have a 87 trans am 305 tpi , and my speedo dows not work , everything else does tho , i took it to autozone to run computer and the said that my speedometer sensor i think does not work and that is why im guessing it doesnt work , where is this located ?? i think it is in the trans which i need to replace anyway. and could this be the only problem ?

Keep It Floored, The Speedometer Stills Says Zero!

Yes it’s located on the transmission.

You could listen to it or watch it with the right equipment but it’s 99% certain it’s the problem if they used the proper method to get a code 24.

Keep It Floored, The Speedometer Stills Says Zero!

The VSS might not be included as part of the rebuild depending on the shop.

However it’s not expensive, and it attaches to the outside of the tranny.

Just tell the tranny shop you need a new VSS.

Yes it is.

There’s only one bolt that has to be removed.
