Problems with ignition lock cylinder

Ok so ive got a couple of little gremlins that i am hoping you guys could help me sort out. I replaced the ignition lock cylinder about a year and a half ago now with one from Standard Motor Products. Ever since I put it in it hasent been working quite right. Im not sure if its the part itself or if its because it was installed improperly but heres whats up. First of all it doesnt sit flush with the steering column and be switched on/off without pressing in the lock button, when switched back the acc. it wont stay there (it will slide back to off), and im not quite sure if this is directly related, but when the key is put in and switched to ON, sometimes the BEEEEEEEP is fuzzy and breaks up(as if the electrical connection is poor). I didnt really realize how sloopy the thing is until I operated one in a 4th gen, and it felt way more solid.

Obviously these are not serious problems but Im still wanting to get it working right. Im going to tear into the steering column tonight and take a look, but i am looking from some thoughts of what I may have done wrong.

Thanks and sorry for the novel!

Re: Problems with ignition lock cylinder

Sounds like the warning tone clip that slides underneath the lock cylinder wasn't installed right. It can fit in there 3 different ways, but only one way is the right way to make it work properly.
