Another headlight thread...

Well guys I have a problem that many have had before, but I still cant find the problem after using some of the solutions that have worked for others. My driver side headlight motor wont go up. The passenger side will, and the lights come on. The motor itself just flat out wont start when I turn them on, but it will go down. (also it's an 86' bird)

I have done a few things to try to fix the problem. First I found an 86' bird at a local junkyard and pulled the entire headlight motor. I still had the same problems as the original... Then I decided to try and see if it was one of the actuator relays by alternating them (passenger side with the driver side), and the passenger side motor worked fine. All of the wires seem to be fine.

I have not checked the isolation relay or the switch itself, but I assumed that they would not be the culprit if only one headlight is having problems.

I should also note that I did hook up the original motor that was for the driver side and hooked it up on the passenger side. It still had the same results... coincidence??

I hope someone can solve this

Thanks,
Parker

have you delved into the wiring at all? you may have a lost ground or broken wire. Do you ahve a multimeter?

No, I have only done a visual check. My brother-in-law has one, but he is out of town until next weekend. Could the isolation relay cause this problem at all? I will take a closer look at the wires tomorrow... but I wont be able to check for any shorts just yet. Do you think the wires are the most promising culprit?

Not sure because i have a problem with mine all of the sudden as well, but if you hooked up the motor to the other side and it still did it, sounds like your problem is either in the wiring between the connector and the motor, or a connection at the motor, seems odd that the replacement one would do the same thing though. you could check the switch as well just in case.

Yeah the whole thing is just weird... I'm hoping that it is something simple that I'm just overlooking, but as of right now I have no clue.
