ok so i just installed my msd on my carburated camaro. now all of my lights flash. any ideas?

 

Elaborate.

Flash on and off as if they’re all hooked up to the hazard flasher?

Or are they undulating?

Headlights only or every last light bulb?

Join the police force? JK. My car has a complete msd system so if you need me to take pics of anything just let me know. I didn't wire it but it works.

 

it runs good and everything so im assuming its hooked up right. the lights are plashing... not on and off just dimming they have have a short or something.. maybe a bad ground? should i have grounded the cap out onto the body instead of the block?

 

If it undulates at low RPM only, the alternator is not putting out a steady voltage, and if the lights are steady when you’re on the loud pedal don’t worry about it.

If it undulates at higher RPM as well, it sounds like you might have temporarily shorted the alternator causing damage to the internal circuitry.

this is something that i could have done with the vehicle off? i didnt touch any wires with the vehicle running. it does do it at all rpms. it didnt do it until i installed this msd box.

 

Because it does it at any RPM I would look at the alternator first.

Take the alternator belt off, if the problem goes away, the alt is bad.
