to hack, or not to hack..that is the question

I have a 92 formula, factory TPI. I bought the car as a shell, no interior, no motor, or trans.

I have a carb'ed supercharged 383 that im going to put it in. The car was converted to carb before I bought it, they rigged it, they just supplied igntion power to the 1 wire dist by splicing into the factory harness, kept the stock alternator, wired both fans to come on with the ignition, and wired the fuel pump relay to come on with the ignition. The factory TPI harness is still in there, but has been hacked a lil bit. Most of the sensor plugs are there, the injector harness has been cut off, but I still have it. thats an easy repair. I have the computer, but the EPROM was robbed.

Should I hack this up to wire up the ignition, 1 wire alternator, and guages or should I sell it as a repairable harness with ECM minus eprom.

sell it. TPI harnesses are worth a fair amount and if its just a carbed set up most of thoes wires you dont need anyways so it will be cleaner in the end anyways.

A hacked harness wont bring anything and youll spend quite a bit of time repairing it

Move the fans off IGN power and to a thermal switch before they burn up

The TPI fuel pump wont last long because it was made to supply 45ish psi. The carb operates at 6-12. With the massive dose of fuel being returned it will burn up quickly. Swap a TBI pump in there or use a carb sender with a mech pump on the block. Coming on with the IGN is fine for this

Read the 3rd gen harness prep thread in the engine swap sticky to minimize the harness to bare essentials only

You will need to get a buffer box from an TBI or older fbody to get the speedo working. The 3rd gen 2 wire alt will work fine without the ECM

Im putting in a Holley blue and Im going to sump the stock tank. I plan on using different guages as well. I like the write up somebody did using 4 inch carbon fiber guages. I might end up doing that.
