help with fan and alt wireing
Hey there i got a 85 iroc 350 tpi. need to figure where some wires go. like whats connected to the battery. also on the pass side firewall there is a wire with a fuseable link that runs along the pass side engine compartment then ends by the battery. no power coming thru the link but woundering where it goes. also my cooling fan as soon as i start my car the fan starts and its pulling a lot of juice. also need to know what wires go to the back of the alt. the alt reads 13.24 running but still not keeping a charge. the funny thing is that i just put a new relay in for the fan. before that started working i could run and drive the car but know as soon as i hit the brakes to back up she dies. well if any one has a salution or 2 that would be great thanks guys

Charge Account
The most important problem is the charging system so you should fix that first.
How old is the battery?
Did you load test it?
13¼ volts is adequate if it’s about a volt higher than the battery voltage when the car is off.
You might have a drain.
Sometimes the under-hood light does not go out so check that easy one first.
Then connect an ammeter in series with the battery.
(You can use a small bulb such as a side marker bulb if you don‘t have an ammeter.)
With everything turned off and doors closed observe the current flow.
Pull the fuses one at a time till you see the current drop.
That’s the circuit with the problem.

Re: Charge Account
well i dont have a hood so thats not it. if i dont have a power wire running from the alt to the battery it doesn't drain. my problem with the power draining is while its running not turned off. What i really need is to know what wires come off the alt and battery. if someone had a pic of what wires go where on there motor that would be great. the car was hacked before i got it so wires may not even be the right colors.

Wire Mire
The heavier red wire goes to the positive stud.
The thinner red wire goes to terminal S (the sensing circuit).
The brown wire goes to terminal T (the turn-on input).
Maybe someone will chime in with a pic.

Yes you should.
The computer is connected VIA a fusible link and a fuse.
The fan is connected VIA a fusible link and a relay.
You should restore the fan circuit so it is not on all the time.
