i have a 1990 camaro rs with 305 tbi in her i am placeing a 350 from 1971 corvette in her and using holly tbi manifold part number 300-49 using stock tbi but i wana remove the emissions devices and was told i need to switch my computer out or chip it what can i do

 

A better intake would be a generic 4 bbl carb with the TBI adapter plate separate, but i digress

The LO3 ECM wont run right with the 350 because it will think you still have the LO3 in there. It will have to be tuned to match. No stock chip will work directly. The harness will still fit fine

 

so were would i get a computer from and would it plug into my wireing harness could i get one out of a truck

 

Use the LO3 ECM. Refer to the tuning forum to modify the tune

An alternative to the crummy GM ECM, you may want to look into EBL. Read up, do a few searches and decide for yourself

 

Pocket - If he's keeping the stock TBI, distibutor, and other sensors and installing into the 350 block, can he just install a 350 knock sensor and the chip from a 350 TBI car, like a Caprice? Maybe would have to use the 350 Caprice (or similar) cam as well?

I was thinking I saw several posts from folks switching to 350 and keeping the TBI setups by swapping out knock sensors and 350 TBI chips - but unsure.

 

He could, but hed need the crummy LO5 swirlport heads along with a similar cam. 71 'vette motor isnt very descriptive and can be anywhere from a boat anchor to something pretty nasty. Its hard to say "use the B-body stuff" when there are really big unknowns

 

its stock 440 hp 1 of 150 engines made it is a rare but i called hawks third gen i think i found a solution after 3 weeks of being told nothing can be done from other performance shops in utah they said they can build me a custom chip for my car to delete things i cant use and increase the performance that i will need and for it to run smooth for $200.00 i think i may go that way
