no tail lights

I have a 84 Trans Am 305 carburated car. I don't have any tail lights whatsoever. I checked fuses, light bulbs work when head lights are on, but they won't turn on when brake pedal is pressed or when the hazard/turn signals are on. Any ideas? I changed the brake switch behind the pedal but still no go.

Pull the the assembly down so you can see the bulbs, take one of the grounds and cut it and then connect it to the metal somewhere to make your own ground for the assembly. I had that problem before and instead of checking every single wire I just did that and problem solved. Good luck, I hope thats all it is.

You checked stuff, but did you check the fuses?

Re: no tail lights

All fuses were good but still went ahead and replaced them. The issue was a pinched wire under the dash that came from the turn signal switch.
