Much like the title says...before I go aftermarket is it possible to hook the my iPod up to the factory radio? I like the factory look for the car shows and it plays just fine but it would be nice to add the iPod features. Has anyone done this? I tried a seach but no luck. I am looking to do this in my convertible IROC Z.

 

It's been done, ppl have added a line in auto sensing headphone jack, do some more searches with "aux" or "aux in" you can find a few ppl that add this and sell on ebay....

 

Yes, it can absolutley be done and has been done. They are people who add these to Delco's and sell them online. You will have to pay for it though. Around $250. Or.....

Scosche makes a top notch one for $12.00 at Walmart.

 

I go the FM transmitter way. Works pretty good you just gotta find a good place to put your iPod.

 

The FM transmitter is the easiest and cheapest way to go.... and it works for me!

 

What about a cassette adapter?

 

I've done that too, had it hooked up to a Discman!!! But when the cassette adapter is push in, the cord coming out of it can tilt/lift the cassette adapter and cause a poor connection inside the cass player and the sound level would be off, or the bass- tone- tremble level would be low/off. But I was able to get the adapter to sit properly by pushing or pulling on the cord.......it sounded fine until I hit a bump in the road, and then I would need to push/pull the cord again!

+90% of the time it worked just fine.

 

I thought the same thing until it blew a fuse and I used my old cassette adapter. Use both at the same time and switch from radio to tape and back again and you will notice a world of difference.


You can buy the factory delco on ebay from $60 to $138 with EQ - just search "pontiac delco aux" I have a spare CD player and when I have time will figure this out and post how to complete this task.
