Ignition Coil Question!!

I'm wanting a new coil, but I'm confused about the remote coil versus the drop in coil.

Which MSD part number is the "drop in" direct replacement coil? I'd prefer that over a remote coil.

If both are msd upgraded coils, then what's the difference in performance?

Is the remote coil better, in some way, than the drop in replacement?

Thanks to any who can help.

I meant is there a performance advantage of one over the other.

Re: Ignition Coil Question!!

Not that I'm aware of . It just depends on your coil setup .

Re: Ignition Coil Question!!

I was wondering why a guy would go through the trouble of a remote coil, as opposed to just dropping in an upgraded one quickly and easily. It makes me think the remote coil has some distinct advantage over the drop in coil.

Re: Ignition Coil Question!!

I am in the same situation actually as I am dropping in a remote MSD coil while hooking up my 6BTM box...There are small performance increases in the remote coils. The best way to check is going to the technical specs on the official MSD web site. Either way you go, it is a much more effective coil then the factory setup in my opinion.
