Ignition problem
While trying to start my 90 iroc i heard a click and lost all lights on dash. I went to the battery and tested it and got 12.45 volts. I took apart a terminal just down from the battery and tested it . I had 12.3 volts on both pins. While messing with this terminal i heard the buzzer in the car . I went and looked at the dash and my lights were on. I proceeded to try to start and it clicked and lights went out again. If i mess with this wire (positive) and terminal it will come back on. What is this terminal for? Doesnt seem to be a fuse in it. Is it a relay? Why would the lights come on if it is unplugged?

Re: Ignition problem
Do you have a repair manual? Check the wiring schematics and relay names. Might help you & us if you can identify the circuit you're working with..

Your problem is where the wires join at the starter solenoid.
Take them off, take a wire brush to them and where they bolt onto the solenoid.
Make them look shiny as they did in 1990.
Bolt the wires back on and you should start no problem.
RE: The buzzer.
The solid state device which controls the buzzer might have been glitched by the rapid on-and-off occurrences by the bad solenoid connection.
The task of disconnecting and reconnecting should let the glitch dissipate.
