1986 Firebird Gauge Cluster Question

I apologize for my lack of knowledge on this subject....

Okay, I have been searching around and have not been able to find the answers to any of my questions.

I have a base model 1986 Firebird (2.8L V6) with a 2 gauge setup (with all of the circles with lights to the side of it), and would like to switch to the 4 gauge setup with the tachometer and temperature sensor.

I read that all gauge clusters 1986 and newer are electronic, except for the 1986 V6 models. Is this correct?

Are they a direct swap if I find one of similar year (1985-86?)

Are there usually wires already there for the tachometer\temperature sensor?

Since there are a lot of random lights to the side of my current gauge cluster (For example, the check engine light, e-brake, etc,) are there inputs for these in the 4 gauge cluster?

And lastly, has anybody done this themselves? If so, could you please give me more information about how you did it.

Again, I apologize for my lack of knowledge on this subject.

im not sure with the electronic/mechanical speedo, but AFAIK, the pods will all interchange, you may have to change the dash panel if you go to the 4 round gauge style pod

Okay, thank you. Does anybody know about the mechanical\electronic information? What would I need to make an electronic speedometer work?

Re: 1986 Firebird Gauge Cluster Question

I am sort of looking at this question but from a different angle. I also have a base 86 firebird 2.8l v6 but I have the 4 gauge setup, and want to know if I can use the electronic circuit boards, and make make dash into digial readout with LEDs and such... a.k.a - KITT.
