Hi guys, when I shut the hatchback on my firebird, the motor pulls it down, but when Its all the way shut the motor keeps spinning. I had to shut it, crawl in the back and unplug the motor wire to stop it. Is my motor out, or is there another problem here.

My 1988 Camaro did this one time while I was driving to my Uncle's ranch. I was about three miles away when it started and I don't remember how I stopped it, but the motor wasn't shot. I bought a repair kit for about $75 dollars. Here's the link.
