Pos. Battery Cable Install

Hey all! I decided to swap out my old corroded positive battery cable for a new one. I have a question though. The old cable had an inline fuse for the alternator wire. Is it necessary to rewire a new inline fuse before the battery on the alternator cable?? If so how many amp fuse would you recommend? Thanx ThirdGen for all your help.
Vehicle is an 87' IROC Z with an XFI ECM.

It wouldn't be 100% nescesary, but I would definently do it if it was my car, what is on there now is probably a fusible link, you could replace it with a fuse of the same amperage. It should say how many amps it is right on it, I know it does on my 89 Formula.

I wouldnt bother adding a fusible link on the alt output cable. If the alt spikes, it goes only to the battery which can handle whatever amperage the alt may jump to. You do need the two fusible links for the dash power wires and fan relay power feed
