Firebird fuel pump

Firebird -83 has originally been V6. It is modified (by previous owner) to V8 (350 engine).
Fuel in pumped by electrical pump. Pump is powered by direct voltage thru iginition key. I'am worried about direct voltage .

I would like to re-wire fuel pump wiring thru relay. Is the original V6 equipped by relay? Wiring diagrams would help.
Please advice.

Re: Firebird fuel pump

Use a 7psi oil pressure switch inline, so the pump doesn't work unless you have atleast that much oil PSI. Yes it won't start right away, will have to crank for a sec, but is better for the engine to not start till ya have oil PSI n e ways.

Plus if you ever wreck, it will shut off if the engine dies.
So it not just pumping fuel.

The switch was used on all of the FI 3rd gens, easy to find, even on ebay fpr cheap.

Dunno if it will help, I got one off ebay a while back for like $7 but you can find ones that cost much more.

Re: Firebird fuel pump

I would like to clarify...
Is the oil pressure switch additional? So I'll keep the oil pressure sensor, which gives values to gauge?
Does 350 block have place for the switch.

Thanks!

yes to all, you can find oil port all over the place, though note that the block just uses standard NPT [national pipe thread] so if you stuck you can just visit the HW store and with some small plumbing fittings make a T connection to plug 2 parts in 1 hole, or extend a hole.................
