twitching temp gauge

i noticed my temp gauge started to twitch recently. it would go from 100 to 220 back to 100 and stay there, and then it would read my normal temp for awhile. go back to 100 for awhile. read the temp again.

but recently, i noticed it isn't working at all now. what's up with that?

Is the green wire on the drivers side head still hooked up?

this is the wire you are talking about, correct? after looking at it closer, it doesn't appear to be in such good looking shape, maybe that might be the issue. the wire looks streched to me.
